Restricting Who Can Register
You can limit who is allowed to register for a clinic or an event. These restrictions are checked when a fencer tries to register.
A note on how restrictions work: AskFRED only restricts based on the information it has. Some special cases (for example, formats tied to current USA Fencing national point standings) aren't enforced automatically and remain the organizer's responsibility.
Membership requirement
Require fencers to have a valid membership number on file before they can register. You can require a USA Fencing membership, a CFF membership, or either one.
Weapon, gender, and age
Set the weapon, gender, and age limit for the event, and choose whether to enforce gender and age in registrations.
Enforcement only does something when you've chosen a specific value. If gender is set to Mixed, or the age limit is set to None, there is nothing to enforce, so those options are unavailable.
When enforced, a fencer's gender or age must match the event's setting to register.
Club allowlist and blocklist
You can restrict registration by club:
Allowlist — only fencers affiliated with the selected clubs can register. Leave it empty for no restriction.
Blocklist — fencers affiliated with the selected clubs cannot register.
Important detail about the allowlist: a fencer must have one of the listed clubs on file (through their USA Fencing or CFF membership, or their profile). A fencer with no club on file will not match any allowlist, so they will be blocked when an allowlist is set. Keep this in mind for camps and clinics, which often attract fencers without a club affiliation.
Division restriction
Restrict registration to a specific division. Fencers must be in the selected division to register.
Maximum registrations and the waitlist
Set a maximum number of allowed registrations (leave blank for no maximum). When a maximum is set, you can enable a waitlist so fencers can queue up once the event is full and be promoted automatically as spots open.
The waitlist is not compatible with required online payments. Read more in Using the Waitlist Feature (https://help.askfred.net/en/articles/13155003-using-the-waitlist-feature-as-a-tournament-organizer).
