A statement descriptor is what your customers see on their credit card statements along with the payment amount for your transaction. This is also what will sometimes show up as a push notification for people with payment methods connected to their phone.

AskFRED as a platform can't modify your Stripe Account's statement descriptors, you'll have to modify this value in your own Stripe Dashboard. You can read more about it in the Stripe documentation here.

Sometimes, a payment from AskFRED will show up with a statement descriptor that doesn't match what was set. Something like "Online Payments by Stripe" will show up instead - particularly for American Express. Neither AskFRED nor Stripe has the ability to control this, as it is done by American Express in an attempt to reduce fraud and chargebacks.
