My USA Fencing membership is attached but my registration doesn't have a green checkmark. Why is this?

This usually occurs when someone registers for a tournament, and then subsequently adds their USA Fencing membership number to their Fencer's record. Registrations capture a fencer's state based on the point in time that a registration was made. If the registration was created before the USA Fencing membership number was present, that USA Fencing membership information will NOT be added to past upcoming registrations. The green checkmark represents the ability of AskFRED to verify at the time of the registration that all fencer information was correct and up to date. In order to add the membership, you must un-register and then re-register for the event.

Please note that this checkmark being present or not will not prevent your USA Fencing membership number from being provided to the tournament when they export the registration list for use in FencingTime (or their preferred software). We will still send them this information if it is present.

Why is my USA Fencing rating or club wrong on AskFRED but is correct on USA Fencing's website?

The means by which AskFRED obtains data from USA Fencing is a different system that powers the USA Fencing membership site. This different system can take up to a few days to be current in some situations. Broadly, it can take about 3 days on average for any changes to a membership to show up on AskFRED. You can speed this up, though, by clicking the "Refresh" button on your USA Fencing Membership card in your Dashboard area to request an immediate data refresh for your membership. This, however, doesn't always work because the data is not always present yet.

I added my rating or club on AskFRED but it is not showing up when I register for tournaments - why is this?

The most common cause to this problem is that your fencer has a USA Fencing membership set which contains different information, and you are registering for a USA Fencing sanctioned event. When registering for a USA Fencing sanctioned event, we will always use the information we have from your USA Fencing membership. We'd suggest checking this information on your USA Fencing membership card and/or on the USA Fencing membership site. If it is wrong, update it and then click the "Refresh" button on your USA Fencing membership card on AskFRED - it might take some time for this to fully propagate as some changes on USA Fencing's website must be manually reviewed. If this is not the issue or does not solve the problem, please reach out to support!

How do I contact a Tournament's Organizers?

On a Tournament's information page or on your registration page, you can click the "Message the Tournament Organizers" link. This will take you to AskFRED's messenger service that will allow you to talk directly to all of the Tournament Organizers for a particular event. You must be logged in to do this.

The results from a recent event I fenced in are still not in AskFRED. Why not?

Tournament Organizers are responsible for uploading results to AskFRED. If the results are not present yet, they just haven't been uploaded yet. This could be due to any number of reasons, such as Division protocols for reviewing event results. If you have questions, please contact the Tournament Organizers.

How can I post my tournaments on FRED?

You need a Bout Committee account in order to make your tournaments live. Please view the help section on this topic here. To create a Tournament for review or to connect a Stripe account, click on the "Bout Committee" link in the main navigation area. Posting tournaments is currently a fully free service.

I paid for a tournament but I can't attend. Can I get a refund?

All registrations are fully owned and managed by the Tournament Organizer themselves and their refund policies. The Tournament Organizer is the one who must refund your registration. You can reach out to the Tournament Organizer via the provided means (see this FAQ above) or by reaching out to the contact information provided on your receipt email.

I was double charged! Help!

If you were sent two receipts, please reach out to us via the support widget in the lower-right and let us know. If you do not have two receipts, its most likely that you were not double charged. One might be a preauthorization and not the final charge - this depends on the payment method used. Please wait for the charges to resolve on your credit card statement and then reach out to us to review the duplicates

What currency does AskFRED accept?

AskFRED supports multiple currencies, which are set by the Tournament Organizer.

I lost my password. How do I fix that?

Visit the "I forgot my password" page to start a password reset.

I'm having issues logging in. What can I do?

The first and most effective step is to reset your password, which you can click here to do.

If this still isn't working for you, and you think you might have a legacy AskFRED account that was moved into the new system, you might need to confirm your email address, which can be done by clicking here.

Otherwise, if neither of these work, the next steps would be to try and create a new account, which can be done by clicking here. If this also does not work, please reach out to support for further debugging by clicking the icon in the lower right of this page!

How do I change my name, ratings, club affiliation, or other information in FRED?

You can modify all of this information in the "My Settings" page. If you provide a valid USA Fencing Membership Number, your membership information will override any custom information you provide to AskFRED.

How do I add or update my club's info to FRED?

Currently, you will need to reach out to support to add or modify a Club's information. In the near future, we plan on adding mechanisms to modify Club info directly. The previous way this worked was a bit too open and unfortunately resulted in some significant abuse. We're closing down this functionality until we can do some significant improvements.

There are two versions of me in AskFRED. How do I remove one?

Reach out to support and we can consolidate duplicate fencers for you.

What is "FRED"?

FRED stands for "Fencing Results and Events Database". Thanks to Bill Nary for the name idea.
