Payment Required Tournaments

Tournament Organizers on AskFRED can optionally configure tournaments to be "Payments Required". This means that in order to have a complete and valid registration for events in this tournament, you must pay online before the close of registration date.

Note that even for these types of events, you can still skip payment. If you do this, you will be marked as "Missing Payment" on the registration list. You can return later to pay, perhaps at a more convenient time. AskFRED will remind you to pay.

If you do not pay, it is up to the Tournament Organizer to determine how to proceed based on the rules of their event. However, most Tournament Organizers enable this setting due to resource planning, and will often will not allow you to fence if you do show up.

If you can not pay for your registration on AskFRED for some specific reason (i.e., you do not have any credit or debit card at all, etc), we suggest you reach out to the Tournament Organizer directly to figure out a resolution to the issue. Some will allow you to pay at the door if there are extenuating circumstances.

FAQ

Why do Tournament Organizers require payment for their events?

Some larger events require resource planning. Hiring the right referees, securing an appropriate venue, etc can require cash outlays before an event takes place. For events like this, having 100 people register without payment but then having only 50 show up at the door can be financially devastating. Requiring pre-payment to register ensures a more realistic number of registrations for this type of planning.
