If you had an account in the Old/Legacy AskFRED system, you now have two accounts - one that lives on the Old AskFRED and your new account here on New AskFRED. But, before you can use your account here on New AskFRED, you must first activate it and then set a password.

Why do you need to activate your account? Because we now require users to verify that they actually own the email address they're using in order to prevent spam and abuse. This is done by simply clicking a link in your inbox.

Why do you need to reset your password? Because passwords are securely saved on Old AskFRED and it is prohibitively difficult to migrate them over to New AskFRED, which is using a different password storage system. So, for your security, you'll need to set an new password on your account here on New AskFRED before you can use your account.

If you need to activate your account but did not get an email, you can visit the link below to request a new email to be sent to you: https://askfred.net/users/confirmation/new

When you receive your email, simply click the link to verify your account.

To set a new password, click the following link and fill out the information to receive instructions in your inbox: https://askfred.net/users/password/new

If you're already logged in, use this link instead to reset your password: https://askfred.net/users/edit

Follow the instructions in the email to reset your password.

After following these instructions, you should be able to log in and view your account!
