Deleting Your AskFRED Account

How to request account deletion

On the web

  1. Log in to AskFRED and go to Settings.

  2. Click the User Settings tab.

  3. Scroll down to the Delete Account section.

  4. Enter your password to confirm your identity, then click Delete My Account.

If you signed in with Google, Apple, or Facebook and haven't set a password, you'll be asked to type "DELETE" to confirm instead.

On the mobile app

  1. Open the AskFRED app and go to the Account tab.

  2. Tap Delete Account at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Enter your password and tap Delete My Account.

What happens when you request deletion

  • Your account is scheduled for deletion in 14 days. You'll receive a confirmation email with the exact date.

  • Any active Fencer+ subscriptions are cancelled immediately. This cannot be undone, even if you cancel the deletion.

  • You will be signed out.

What is preserved

Your fencer competition records β€” results, bouts, and placings β€” are part of the public competitive record and will not be deleted. They will be disassociated from your account. See our Data Retention Policy for more information.

What is permanently removed

After the 14-day grace period, the following is permanently anonymized or deleted:

  • Your email address, name, and contact information

  • Saved searches and tournament favorites

  • Messages and conversations

  • Payment connections

  • All login credentials and sessions

Cancelling a deletion request

Changed your mind? You can cancel at any time during the 14-day grace period:

  1. Log in to AskFRED.

  2. You'll see a banner at the top of the page indicating your account is scheduled for deletion.

  3. Click Cancel Deletion.

You'll receive an email confirming the cancellation. Your account will continue as normal.

Note: Even if you cancel the deletion, any Fencer+ subscriptions that were cancelled as part of the request will not be restored. You would need to re-subscribe separately.

Before you can delete

You cannot delete your account if you:

  • Own any tournaments β€” you must transfer ownership first.

  • Own a club account β€” you must transfer ownership first.

If either of these applies, you'll see a message explaining what to do.
