Club records on AskFRED

What to do when your club doesn't seem to be in AskFRED, or there are too many of your club

Why can't I find my fencing club on AskFRED?

AskFRED has an extensive database of fencing clubs, but it is not fully complete. Many new clubs β€” especially clubs not associated with supported National Governing Bodies β€” aren't automatically included in our database. The only automatic processes we have are associated with NGB membership records, so if your club is very new or independent of an NGB, it will not be picked up automatically.

How do I add my club to AskFRED?

You can submit your club directly through AskFRED for review:

  1. Log in to your AskFRED account

  2. Go to My Dashboard, select your fencer, and click Fencer Settings

  3. Next to the Primary Club or Secondary Club dropdown, click the Submit a new club link

  4. Fill out the form with your club's name, initials, location, and any verification details (such as a website or social media links)

  5. Click Submit for Review

Our team will review your submission and verify that the club exists. You'll receive an email once a decision has been made. If approved, the club will immediately be available for selection across AskFRED.

What happens after I submit?

  • You'll receive a confirmation that your submission is under review

  • Our team will verify the club's existence using the information you provided

  • Once approved, you'll receive an email and the club will be available in the club dropdown

  • If we're unable to approve the submission, you'll receive an email with the reason and instructions for reaching out to support

Note about high schools: We do add high schools to our club database, but only those with active fencing clubs or teams. We do not add schools with no active fencing program.

I see multiple copies of my club in AskFRED, how do I fix this? Which one is the right one?

If you're seeing multiple copies of your club on AskFRED, reach out to support and let us know. We're able to merge these into a single record automatically. Please do so proactively, as we would prefer to not have duplicate records in our database.

Why are there multiple copies of my club in AskFRED?

There are a few reasons, but the most common one is that when a Tournament Organizer submits results for a tournament, they might have submitted a version of your club that didn't exist in our database. This could be because they created a new club accidentally on their version of FencingTime, because their FencingTime database has a very old copy of your club, etc. We try to de-duplicate clubs during the results submission process, but it does require the Tournament Organizer to match things up correctly, and that doesn't always happen accurately. The end result is multiple club entries in our database.
