Features and Tips

Most of the basic features for the Fencing Referee app are self-evident, but this help article is here to give you a few insights into how parts of the app work that might not be as obvious.

Long Pressing

We support long pressing on a number of elements on the main timer. We call them out here because these can be easily missed. Specifically:

  • If you long press one of the score numbers themselves, that will reset only that score to 0.

  • If you long press the timer, it will enter into configuration mode allowing you to add/subtract time from the timer.

  • Long pressing will dismiss the physical card shown by the "Show Physical Cards" feature.

Stop Timer Touch Sensitivity

We've given users control in how easy/hard they want it to be to start and stop the timer. A shorter number here makes it very easy to stop the timer, which referees sometimes find troublesome due to accidentally stopping if their hand brushes the screen accidentally. A longer number helps prevent this issue, but also makes it harder to stop the timer if you want to stop it. It also means the timer is running for a slight bit longer before it stops successfully. We've provided a slider so that each user can adjust this setting to where they see fit and find most convenient.
