AskFRED is currently in a public beta for our Club Manager functionality. We currently view this functionality as incomplete and potentially buggy, so if you have any issues to report, thoughts, recommendations, etc, please reach out to us to share them!

What is Club Manager?

Club Manager allows a Bout Committee user to claim a specific Club in the AskFRED database. Once claimed, the BC user will be able to do things like:

  • view all USA Fencing or Canadian Fencing memberships attached to that club

  • view all Fencers who are claiming your club on AskFRED but perhaps don't have a membership

  • view all past results for all Fencers affiliated with your club

  • view all upcoming Tournaments that members of your club are registered to fence in

  • view all known USA Fencing qualifications (i.e., which fencers are qualified for Summer National events) for members of your clubs

  • drill down into individual Fencer's profile to view their individual information

  • view a calendar of events associated with each upcoming Tournament your Fencers are registered for

In addition, we're going to continue to heavily expand functionality over time, with a long roadmap of features to improve this experience and the lives of club owners/managers.

Access to Club Manager

Club Manager will be free to use for all Bout Committee members who are actively hosting tournaments that accept payments online. As a part of the Public Beta period, this is the only way to gain access to Club Manager.

FAQ

What should I do if I see duplicate Clubs on the selection workflow?

Please reach out to support! We'll merge the records together in our database for you.

Why are there duplicate records for my Club?

Duplicate records in AskFRED can occur at any time because new records can be created via results import if a tournament organizer creates a new club record instead of using an existing one. We're working on functionality to continue to mitigate this situation over time.

What if I claim a Club that is not mine?

If you accidentally claim the wrong Club, just let us know and we can reset it for you. Having said that, we consider maliciously claiming a Club that is knowingly not yours a Terms of Service violation and will result in being banned from AskFRED.

What if I have more than one Club?

We currently only support one User to own one Club. But this will be changing over time. If you have an urgent need here, please let us know and we can discuss early access. This does mean that if you have multiple Users due to, for example, multiple Stripe accounts, each one of those Users can claim a Club if they qualify to do so.

How do I gain access to Club Manager?

As a part of the Public Beta, access to Club Manager requires you to be running at least one future tournament that is actively accepting registrations and accepts online payments through AskFRED. When you meet these conditions, you can visit the "Club Manager" link in the header to claim your Club.

In this context, when we say "running", we mean you are the Bout Committee User who owns the Stripe connection and has attached it to a Tournament that you created to accept payments. "Tournament Managers" do not qualify for Club Manager functionality.

How do I lose access to Club Manager?

If you had a qualifying Tournament going but it just ended and you have no other future tournaments that meet this criteria, you will lose access to Club Manager the Tuesday after that event has concluded. You'll be sent an email notifying you of the loss of access.

I lost access to Club Manager! How do I get it back?

To regain access is simple - you must meet the criteria of running a future tournament that is accepting registrations and accepts online payments through AskFRED. There are a few ways to achieve this - create a new one, modify an existing one, and more. Once you do so, we will automatically reinstate your access on the next Tuesday, OR you can click the Club Manager link in the header to immediately regain the access that you lost.

Can I access Club Manager without accepting payments through AskFRED?

Currently, no, but we will very likely change this stance in the future as the functionality exits the Public Beta period. We will also likely be modifying how the access controls work to be a bit more forgiving over time, as well. If you have a strong desire to access this functionality but can't at the moment, please reach out to support to discuss further.

Why do I see fencers who are not members of my Club in the membership lists?

AskFRED reports two types of fencers as members:

  • official members who claim your exact club as members on their official NGB memberships (USA Fencing membership, CFF membership, etc).

  • non-official members who have listed your club as their own by either picking it in the dropdown on AskFRED themselves, or by having someone insert their fencer record into our database via official FencingTime results files with your club listed.

We do this in order to give you visibility into official and unofficial club representation.
